What does your typical Saturday night look like? Going to the movies or maybe a party with your friends? Grabbing some dinner at your favorite local spot?
How do you get there? Who drives?
You should know before you go that Saturday is the most dangerous day for teens to be in cars.
Here are the facts: August is the second deadliest month for teen drivers, right behind July, according to data from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The numbers also show that between 2009-2013, 2,652 teens died in a car crash. That’s 530 a year.
Erie Insurance wants to help you and your friends stay safe every day of the week, anywhere you’re going. Once again we’re launching Shift, our safe driving program, which is designed to keep teens informed with tips and statistics, so you can avoid becoming one.
Take the pledge today. Not only are you securing your future, you could win up to $10,000 for your school and $1,500 for yourself. Participate in the weekly Shift challenges to earn points, then test what you’ve learned at the end of the contest to earn even more points. The program runs from Aug. 31 to Nov. 13, 2015.
